How to Add or Update an Option Set Field in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales CRM
Using dropdowns in fields
This week in Microsoft Dynamics Support, we’ll look at how to add or update an option set field, as well as how to move the options within option field dropdown menus in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales CRM.
So what are option sets anyway? Option sets are fields that offer options in a dropdown. Let’s have a look at an example here:
In this record, if we look at the relationship type field, we see an available option set in a dropdown.
In some cases, clients have asked me how update, add, or remove some of these options. See below for video and instructions on how to do so:
Update or add an option field set
1.) Go to Settings > Customization > Customize the System.
2.) Go into Entities, choose the entity type you want to update in, and then choose Fields.
In my example, we were looking at the account entity, so I chose Account:
3.) Find the field you want to edit and double click on it.
From this window, you can view and edit the data type, field type, and existing options.
4.) Make the changes you want to make, then click Save and Close.
5.) If you add a new option to the option set, you will need to click Publish All Customizations:
Once published, you can go back to your record and view the changes to your option set field.
